Sexually Maladaptive Treatment Program

Parc Place SMB Program Overview

Parc Place is a JCAHO accredited Level 1 RTC providing services for dually diagnosed adolescent males ages 11 -17, who have exhibited sexually maladaptive behaviors. Parc Place has over 10 years of experience working with dually diagnosed adolescents and in 2008, opened a 10 bed SMB (sexually maladaptive behavior) unit for adolescent males. The SMB unit has grown to a 20 bed unit since 2008 and currently we are expanding it to a 40-bed unit in order to meet the needs of our community referral sources. The foundation of the therapeutic approach to services at Parc Place is based on Cognitive-Behavioral principles. All patients at Parc Place receive the following services based on their individual needs; a weekly individual session, daily group therapy, family therapy, SMB education, academic services, and daily living skills.  The patient’s family is kept informed as to the weekly progress of the patient during weekly family sessions. In those cases where families are not able to attend family sessions, weekly contact with the therapist is initiated via phone.  In addition to therapy sessions, all patients participate daily in one or more of the following: recreation activities, fitness activities, team building, vocational activities, psycho-educational groups, education programs, and social skills groups.

It shall be Parc Place’s policy to establish appropriate clinical criteria for admission and discharges in regard to treatment services.  Admission shall be limited to individuals who can emotionally, behaviorally, and physically participate in the program (with reasonable accommodations), and can be expected to benefit from the services offered.  Parc Place’s policies on Admission and Discharge criteria shall be subject to on-going evaluation in the overall agency Performance Improvement program.

Admissions Process:

The decision to accept any individual into services shall be the decision of the Director of Admissions.  The determination shall be made based on several factors, however Parc Place insists that any individual being referred be medically stable prior to acceptance.

Any omitted pertinent case information preventing Parc Place from making a clinically sound determination shall impede the individual being considered for admission.  It shall be the responsibility of the parent and/or guardian, or referral source to provide whatever is deemed necessary in order to consider the case for services.

The Director of Admissions will make every attempt to place the youth with a Therapist whose expertise best meets the needs of the youth and family.

Criteria for Admission:

Presenting characteristics will vary per applicant, however Parc Place shall generally consider individuals for admission who meet any or all of the following criteria:
  1. Males ranging in age from 11-17
  2. Individuals who are either adjudicated or non-adjudicated sex offenders with acknowledgment of sexually maladaptive behaviors;
